On December 18, several Chinese embassies issued a notice titled “Announcement on Further Extending the Period and Expanding the Scope of the Visa Application Fingerprint Exemption Policy.”

According to the announcements released by Chinese embassies in the Republic of Korea, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Ghana, in order to further facilitate visa applications to China, applicants for short-term visas with a stay of no more than 180 days will be exempt from fingerprint collection from now until December 31, 2026.
根据中国驻韩国、瑞典、沙特阿拉伯、墨西哥和加纳大使馆发布的公告,为进一步便利赴华签证申请,从即日起至2026年12月31日,申请停留期不超过180天的短期签证的申请人将免于采集指纹。
Applicants for visas that require the issuance of residence permits after entry into China—including D, J1, Q1, S1, X1, and Z visas—will still be required to provide fingerprints in accordance with existing regulations.
申请入境中国后需办理居留许可的签证(包括D、J1、Q1、S1、X1和Z签证)的申请人,仍需按照现有规定提供指纹。
Based on past practice, the fingerprint exemption policy is expected to be extended to a broader range of Chinese embassies and consulates. Applicants are advised to closely follow official announcements for the latest policy updates.
